Wet and Muddy

Rainy season is in full swing with almost daily storms, streets turned into rivers, and slippery mud everywhere. During the big storms, life stops, plans adjust, and you just try to stay safe and dry (honestly being a little wet feels good, but The Gambians do not like you being dirty or wet). As a Tubaab (white person) if I go out, I am prepared with my heavy duty sandals, umbrella, a change of clothes, a towel to wipe things off, and everything in Ziploc bags. I am also prepared to wait out a storm, rearrange plans, delay or cancel travel. Rainy season, just like the storms in life, is a beautiful reminder of the one who’s plans are sovereign and timing is perfect.
