The Gambia has two seasons, Dry Season and Rainy Season (more affectionately called Green Season). The rains have started, my plants are happy, the farmers are hustling to plant their millet and peanuts, the grass is growing, the roads are flooding, the roofs are leaking, the insects are hatching, the humidity is skyrocketing, the mold is starting, the sweat is here, and the storms are coming more frequently. Here we go, another rainy season in The Gambia. This will be my first in the city and already it has it’s unique challenges that we are working to remedy.
Pray for the right amount of rain for the crops and a good harvest. Pray for safety on the roads. Pray for sturdy homes and protection from flooding. Pray for health, the heat and mosquitoes bring lots of rainy season illnesses.
