After over 2 weeks of very infrequent power, (some days only 2hrs out of 24hrs) my team said it was time to implement a backup power system. With their help, the great manager at Staples (yes, it is real Staples although Staples Africa), and his electrician I was able to get the system purchased, installed, and functioning in one day! Of course in WAWA (West Africa Wins Again) fashion, he had to set everything up without power and when the power came on I discovered problems so he had to come back the next day.
The good news is that my backup power system seems to be working properly. The challenge is that the batteries need about 6 hrs of electricity per day to charge up and I am not getting anywhere near that amount. I have been cautious with my use since my batteries are not charged up and I have been able to keep fans running.
BUT, I am definitely not charged up myself. This power and water (it goes off when the power is off too long) struggle is exhausting. Later today, I am running away from home to get some reliable power and water with a backup generator for a few days and get myself charged up.
