Off Grid

I apologize for the last few weeks of silence. 2 weeks ago, I made the move into the city and there have been some challenges. I knew city living would be different, I had become accustomed to village life and living off grid in rural West Africa. I was not prepared for being off grid day #1 in the city!

After smooth packing of the moving truck, a good ferry crossing and even my cat tolerating the crate and car ride pretty well, we arrived at the new place in the city.

My teammates, the Pastor who is the landlord, electricians, plumbers, painters, and carpenters had worked tirelesly and prepared a beautiful place for me. The house was in rough shape just two weeks prior.  Unfortunately, we arrived to no power (rolling city blackouts), windows missing (the carpenter had to remove them to change the screens), doors that would not close (the painters painted over the latches), no internet (critical as I am in online school) and later that day no water for a few hours. It was a rough transition to offgrid city living. Praise God, I am now comfortably living in the house and most of these situations have been resolved. I am enjoying my coffee station with electricity for an electric kettle and the peace and calm of this new home. I still have a lot to get used to and figure out, but I can see God’s hand in this all. Thank you for praying.
