Holidays

Today and tomorrow are public holidays in The Gambia as they celebrate the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting.  This morning as I watched thousands of men and young boys (a few older women were in the crowds also) filing out of the mosques in their new holiday clothes my heart was overwhelmed by the lost around me who do not know Jesus.  This holiday is a hard one as they are celebrating that they endured the month of fasting and made it through God’s testing.  And, as they celebrate, they go house to house asking their neighbors for forgiveness all in an attempt to win God’s favor.  Oh, that they would know Jesus and the sacrifice He made for them and the free gift of God’s grace.  This evening I will don my fancy clothes and join with a family for a holiday feast, pray that I could be a light to those around me illuminating the truth of Jesus.
