Ok, for those of you who know me you are probably chuckling about this title since I tend to be a little accident prone. Don’t worry, I do not have a new injury and I am recovering well from my existing ones. As I was reading in Proverbs 4 this morning about focusing on the Lord and His ways I was reminded of all my slips, trips and falls. As followers of Jesus we are to let our eyes look directly forward, set our gaze straight before us, ponder the path of our feet, not swerve to the right or left, turn our feet from evil and if we do these things our paths will be sure. As most of you know I am recovering from an ankle fracture and after 3 months in some sort of a brace or walking boot I am starting to cautiously ambulate without any assistance. I am not going to lie this is a little bit of a scary process and I have been very deliberate in my steps and in choosing the sure and steady path. A few weeks ago (while still in the brace praise God) I did take my eyes off the path and immediately stepped in a hole tumbling to the ground. My eyes were not fixed on what was immediately in front of me, but further ahead and I missed the peril in front of me. I am a planner and I do find myself so many times trying to see around the corners and 5 steps ahead where my focus should be on what the Lord has immediately placed in front of me. My prayer is that I be more intentional, more diligent and more focused on what the Lord places immediately in front of me seeking the path He desires.
