Packing and moving are very different when you live in West Africa. There are no moving vans, moving companies, or even good cardboard boxes. Plastic bins are precious commodities that you hold on to for dear life.
With my schooling and our ministry work, it has been decided that I will temporarily relocate from our rural ministry center to the urban area. I am hoping to relocate myself, my belongings and my elderly cat on Saturday, April 4th.
I have signed a year lease for a very peaceful and strategically located house in the city. The new place is completely unfurnished and in order to make it a comfortable, settled, peaceful place to study, work, and live I will be moving most of my furniture and belongings. I have even been “shopping” at the vacant houses on our rural property to see what I can borrow. I have hired a truck to haul the big stuff across the river on the ferry and I will load up the car with as much as I can.
The work in the village will continue at our residential property and with our literacy and community development ministries. I will make monthly visits to the village and my house in the village will be setup as a guesthouse. There are lots of moving pieces, parts, and major to-do lists. Prayers are appreciated.
Praise God, many people are coming together to help make this all happen. I am juggling a full time course load with all of this right now. Yet again, the Lord is teaching me to depend upon Him and my family in Christ.
Pray for the transition, for the repairs on the rental house, for the move, for focus and time for school, and most importantly for our employees and friends in the rural village.
