The British English definition of “freedom” describes a special privilege or right of access, especially that of full citizenship.
A few nights ago, I sat on this porch with other followers of Christ discussing what freedom in Christ means to us. Followers of Jesus are adopted into the family of God, given special privileges and the right of unimpeded, full access to God because of our full citizenship in heaven. Pray, ponder, and ask yourself what that looks like in your life. Look around you at those who are blinded to the truth.
As we sat discussing our beautiful freedom and praying for those who have yet to receive that, the Muslim call to prayer rang out marking the end of their fasting for the day. My heart broke at the bold contrast between those of us sitting there free in Christ and those around us still held in bondage. Pray for Muslims around the world that they would see the freedom offered to them.
