Ngente

I hope you clicked on this post to find out what “ngente”, a very important Wolof word means. Our language learning process is called Language Acquisition Made Practical (LAMP method) and that means you self direct and learn what you specifically need to learn. Early on it was important to learn what “ngente” meant since it is a word used often. This refers to a baby naming ceremony where the child is named on their 7th day of life and alongside the ceremonial aspects there is a big party. When each man can have up to four wives and part of your riches is many children there are lots of these ceremonies each week in our village and surrounding areas.
