Last week was busy, but in typical Gambian style we brought in some fun. A young engineering student is visiting us for several weeks and she is sharing some of what she is studying. As she does fun challenges with our Gambian workers and students we are observing to see who thinks differently. One of the big goals of these experiments is to see who might be open to doing things a new way, who might be willing to question things instead of just accepting that there is only one way to do it and who comes up with a new creative way of doing something.
As part of the new ministry directions with community development one of the things we are praying and searching for is people who are willing and ready to do things differently. The new programs will take existing resources and come alongside of nationals as together we identify new ways of using those resources to improve this community. Ultimately, the big prayer is that as those around us start questioning things and looking at things differently their eyes would be opened to a new faith and the truth of Jesus.
Work, ministry, sharing biblical truths and more can be lots of fun. I know many of you will be involved in Vacation Bible Schools this summer and I have not forgotten how much work and how exhausting those times are. I want to encourage you to be a kid, to have some fun and at least be willing to laugh at yourself and see how the Lord uses that.
