Today starts a very busy few days for our workers and our literacy class students. Just like for many students in the US it is exam week! The new ministry vehicle will get some good use as class facilitators travel back and forth between different villages and our staff travel to each village to administer the exams. We don’t let the facilitators administer the exams for their own classes so that things remain fair. All of these exams will then be graded and classes will be ranked. I am glad I don’t have to take the exam as I still struggle with the sound of some of these letters. In a couple of weeks each student will be presented with their certificate of completion for year #1 of the Adult Literacy Class in their tribal language and awards for the best classes will be presented. In typical Gambian fashion a drumming session and small party will likely break out.
Pray for the students taking exams each afternoon (late morning US time) today, tomorrow and Wednesday. Pray for their minds to be sharp, especially in the heat and humidity. Pray for our workers who are doing extra work to administer the exams. Pray for safety as everyone travels. Pray for all of the logistics and financial provision for the year end celebrations.
