Back and Forth

A few weeks ago I was settling into life in California and being back in The Gambia was not in the forefront of my mind. However, God’s plans are always greater than ours and I am grateful to be back here with my Gambian family, celebrating the life of our long standing friend.

The funeral, a week ago was an amazing testimony to her life, a wonderful opportunity to share and come together and support each other.

I feel like the last week and the next two weeks can be summed up by three words, “back and forth.” Less than 24 hours after our arrival in The Gambia, we headed across the river to Ndungu Kebbeh to spend time with team prior to the funeral, the next day. After receiving mourners in the village, 5 days later, Ruth and I were back on that ferry, returning to the city. After wrapping up some school work and diving into financial things here, I will hop back on that ferry to the village on Tuesday, 11/4 to manage the finances there. If I can get everything done, I’ll hop back on that ferry again on Friday 11/7 heading to the city to meet up with some visitors coming to see the ministry and pray about joining our team. Of course, that means we have to get on the ferry again going back and forth to the village! If the ferry cooperates, we will head out there on Tuesday, 11/11 returning to the city on Saturday 11/15 and then I hop a plane back to California the following week.

Not going to lie, this is a lot of back and forth. It is tiring, but I’m taking time to rest. Physically, my back is doing great, and I’m grateful to be able to be here and serve in this way.

Pray for all of the back-and-forth’s, pray for good ferry crossings,
pray for all of the “to do’s”, pray for the Y family visiting, and continue to pray for opportunities to share the hope and assurance that Joanne had.
