It is dry season in The Gambia which means our skin is cracked and sore despite putting on lotion 2-3 times per day, the air is crisp and cool, the cool shower before bedtime (no hot water heaters) is a shock to the system and leaves you shivering, and Christmas is near. Well, Christmas is always near because Christ is always near and we don’t have to wait until December 25th to celebrate Him.
This morning I awoke to the sound of sprinkling rain on my tin roof. Occasionally in the midst of this crazy dry season we have a day of light rain and it tends to happen around Christmas so we call it the Christmas Rain.
On this Christmas Eve morning I sat under my mango tree enjoying the sprinkles and fresh smell of rain with my coffee, Scripture, prayers and Christmas music. Oh, what a glorious day! For Nothing is Impossible With God.
Merry Christmas!
