Recently, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a training for our new Community Development Ministry. This training was near the urban area and at a place I had never been before. Praise God a teammate offered to join me on day #1 so we could try to find the training center together.
There are few streets that are named here. We do use a great offline GPS app called maps.me, but with lots of unnamed dirt roads it only gets you close. We use landmarks which sometimes help.
So, how do we find our destination? “Your mouth is your GPS!”
Yes, our mouth is how we find places. You stop and ask everyone you see for your destination and eventually God places someone who hops in the car with you and directs you the final steps. This journey was no exception to that rule and we ended up coming across the cook for the training center so she even got blessed with a ride to work.
Day #2 was a little easier to find the location and I now have notes like “turn past the transformer”, “look for the blue and yellow house”, “watch out the entrance to the road will be bad in rainy season”. Enjoy your GPS, street names and addresses although my way sure opens doors for laughter, ministry connections and fun conversation. Yet another reason why language learning is so critical.
