Fellowship and Campfires

As I wrap up things here in the US and say many “see-you laters” I am doing a lot of reflecting on my time here.  If you keep up with my blog posts you will probably see a theme, many of my posts may be similar.  I am so grateful for all of the wonderful fellowship that this time in the US offered.  I have spent many hours chatting, sharing stories about life in The Gambia, catching up on your lives, eating good food, praying and praising the Lord for all He has done and is doing.  I have had fellowship one on one and in large church congregations, from North Carolina to California and back with stops in Ohio, Maryland and Delaware still to come.  This fellowship has been exactly what I needed after a season filled with a lot of isolation.

Many evenings of fellowship with others and with God have been spent around a bonfire.  It is wonderful that many of you have firepits and there is even one here at the mission house.  There is something about a fire that stimulates wonderful, honest and deep conversations.  I am reminded of something Pastor Ryan Epley at West Cabarrus Church shared a few years ago.  May the light of Christ shine through us like a warm, welcoming campfire to those around us.  Thank you all for being a part of my community and joining around that campfire, even at times kindling the light so that I may shine in The Gambia and wherever the Lord has placed me.  3 weeks left until I hop on that plane, thanks for praying for all the last minute logistics.
