Children

The Wolof word for child is “doom”. In my early language learning I was thrown when someone used the words for mango and child together. It sounded like they were saying “the child of the mango tree.” Guess what, that was what they were saying! Think about it, isn’t a fruit really the child or offspring of the tree?

Over the last few months we have been preparing to publish a Wolof book for use in our Adult Literacy classes and other areas of ministry on health prevention with some spiritual lessons. Included in this book are teachings on clean water, the importance of good hydration and Psalm 1 about the blessings of walking in righteousness, like a tree being planted by streams of water which produces good fruit “doom” in season and does not wither. I am excited to see how the Lord will use these teachings and open doors to share about His living water that produces good fruit, how only He can cleanse and purify from our sin and much more.

Please pray for our upcoming Literacy Facilitator training November 25th – December 6th and for this book that we hope to print and present to our classes in April 2025. Pray the class discussions and book  would open doors to share these spiritual truths and for new ministry opportunities.
